We present our recent results on the role of hierarchical structural organization in the performance and fault tolerance of brain-inspired neural architectures. Our approach relies on the application of graph theoretical concepts and spectral analysis. We show that real brain connectivity maps (connectomes) represent a natural benchmark to validate our hypotheses.
