We discuss some static and dynamic properties of networks, considering the cases of fully random networks and of so-called scale free networks. Methods for generating such networks are discussed, and we look at transport properties in terms of percolation and activity/disease spreading. The seminar is intended to provide an initial overview of ideas and theoretical concepts rather than a state-of-the art review of current scientific developments.
